I’ve loved sewing since my mum taught me at 8 years old. As a school kid with no money, I had to be resourceful. I made clothes and costumes for my toys out of scraps of fabric that were saved for me by a family friend. I saved every last sliver of ribbon from birthday presents and any sequins and beads that I could get my hands on.
The first two outfits I made as a kid, including a matching scrunchie! ☺️
Even though I am now able to order metres of any fabric I please, I still prefer the thrill of ReDesigning something old into something new. Plus, it’s great for the environment and minimising waste. Thrift stores like Vinnies and Salvos are my fabric stores. My imagination is the pattern. I followed my sparkle and it led me to this.
